Glenn Van Dijken, your UCP candidate for Athabasca-Barrhead-Westlock
UCP Critic for Infrastructure
Glenn van Dijken was elected to the Alberta Legislature on May 05, 2015 in the constituency of Barrhead – Morinville – Westlock. He is currently Official Opposition Critic for Infrastructure and has also served as the Critic for Transportation as well as the Critic for Labour.
Glenn is very passionate about the future well-being of families and the rural community. Glenn is an extremely active member of the community and has volunteered on many boards, committees, and organizations that do significant work in keeping our rural community a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family. Some of these groups include Federated Co-operatives Limited, the Neerlandia Co-op board, the Western Hog Exchange, the Goldeye Foundation, hockey and baseball associations, and church council.
Glenn and his wife Barb operate a grain farm near Dapp, Alberta and previously also raised hogs and cattle. They were both honoured with the Alberta Outstanding Young Farmers award in 2001, and also served as Alberta co-chairs of the Canadian Outstanding Young Farmer program during 2009 and 2010. Together they have raised five children, all of whom have graduated from the University of Alberta and are now married. Glenn and Barb currently have eight grandchildren.
